Aston Martin Valkyrie Now In Production

Aston Martin has announced that they are now taking orders for the production of their new supercar, the Aston Martin Valkyrie. The car was first unveiled at last year’s Geneva Motor Show and received a lot of attention from potential customers. It is powered by an AMR-developed 6.5-liter V12 engine which can produce up to 1,140 horsepower. This will allow it to accelerate from 0-60mph in just a little over 2 seconds. Listed at $3 million per car, you’ll need deep pockets if you want one (though only 150 will be produced). Nomenclature

The car’s original code name was Nebula, but it was finalized as AM-RB001. In the name, “AM” stands for Aston Martin while “RB” stands for Red Bull. Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing worked closely together on this car. The “001” in the name likely represents the fact that this is the first production car that the two companies have collaborated on. As for its final production name, “Valkyrie”, the name was chosen to maintain the tradition of having a “V”-titled car as a way of distinguishing themselves as a brand.

Design

The new 2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie is sleek and stylish both inside and out. The exterior of the car is very aerodynamic with a smooth front end and an angular back. In terms of size, it’s actually smaller than other models in Aston Martin’s lineup which means that it can be pushed from 0-60mph even faster. It also takes into account the Venturi Effect, utilizing an open underfloor to make it extremely aerodynamic. In fact, it is able to exert 4,000 pounds of downforce when driving at high speeds. Additionally, its wheels are designed to manage airflow, making the car lighter and easier to drive. Its interior is extremely high-tech with a driver focus. It has no exterior mirrors and no dashboard but does have rearview cameras and visible dashboard information which are displayed on screens to the sides and on the steering wheel instead. It also features two carbon fiber seats, both of which come with two over-the-shoulder seat belts. Because of the car’s tiny doors and interior, each seat is made specifically to the buyer’s specifications through 3D scanning.

Engine

The Aston Martin Valkyrie’s 6.5-liter V12 engine is made up of a lot of new and unique features. It is a naturally aspirated V12 with an electric powertrain that produces 1,000 horsepower with a redline of 11,100 RPM, making it the most powerful naturally aspirated road car in the world. The engine has been developed in partnership with Cosworth, Red Bull Racing’s current supplier for F-series Formula One engines. However, unlike the ones used in F-Series cars, this engine will be lighter. A lot of its parts are also made out of carbon fiber to keep it lightweight and efficient, even at high speeds. The engine is connected to a Rimac-built hybrid battery system which can provide an additional 140-160 horsepower.

Valkyrie AMR Pro

The Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro is the company’s ultimate hypercar. It is the
track-only version of the Valkyrie. It features a lighter body, enhanced aerodynamics, and active suspension for better control over the car’s handling on race tracks. The AMR Pro is powered by the same naturally aspirated engine as the Valkyrie but is lighter and has higher power output. The car’s exhaust system was also redesigned to carry more heat from its engine away from other components, making it even faster. Its wheels are 18 inches, which is smaller than its street legal counterpart and is made to fit Michelin’s racing tires.

Production

The initial concept was revealed in 2016, meaning that bringing the Valkyrie to the
production stage took half a decade of design, engineering, and product testing. Each of the 150 models of the $3 million hypercar takes approximately 2,000 man-hours to build. Each is handmade at Aston Martin’s plant in Gaydon, Warwickshire. However, the Valkyrie will be built on a bespoke production line that has been specifically designed for this car which takes about three weeks to assemble before it can go out to customers. A team of skilled Aston Martin technicians project manages the production of the car from the beginning of the building process all the way through on-site product testing and delivery. Customers will be able to take delivery in either the UK or in California at a designated production area. The AMR Pro will undergo a similar production process but will be limited to 25 units with a price tag of $3.5 million. Each model has already sold out. In a statement, Aston Martin CEO Tobias Moers said, “It is an immensely proud moment for us to complete our first-ever hypercar. The Aston Martin Valkyrie program has tested everyone who has worked on it to the limit but the commitment to the dream has produced a truly incredible car, an F1® car for the road.” He then went on to say that he is “sure [Aston Martin] customers will be delighted with what they have achieved”.

Car show appearances

The first time the 2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie was unveiled was at Aston Martin’s
headquarters in Gaydon back in the summer of 2016. It was shown as a non-working model. It was then featured again in November of that year at a private Aston Martin showcase in Abu Dhabi a day before the F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

In 2017, the supercar was featured in the annual Festival Automobile International in Paris. It was also featured in Canada as the star of the Canadian Auto Show in Toronto. In the springtime, it was also shown next to other Aston Martin cars at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. It’s been a long time coming, but the 2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie is finally ready to hit the streets.
